Raul Gonzalez tests positive for Covid-19 ahead of Castilla's fixture against Getafe B

Published on: 19 January 2021

Raul Gonzalez has tested positive for COVID-19 and will not be present for Castilla's fixture against Getafe B this weekend.

According to Marca, the former striker is self-isolating and adhering to all the relevant protocols.

Gonzalez is, however, expected to return in time for Castilla's game against Rayo Majadahonda on January 31.

Provided their game against Getafe goes ahead, it will be assistant manager Alberto Garrido who will be in the driving seat.

The news of Gonzalez's result comes as a blow to Castilla – who have implemented strong protocols to stop the virus from effecting the team.

Castilla have not yet played any games this calendar due to various covid related issues. Their last match was played on December 13 against Atletico Madrid B.

Real Madrid’s senior team have had their fair share of positive results too - seeing a number of Zinedine Zidane's men ruled out of competition.

Casemiro, Luka Jovic and Eden Hazard have all spent time in quarantine after contracting the virus.

While Zidane has also self-isolated after coming into contact with someone who tested positive for Covid-19.
