French Ligue 1 outfit RC Strasbourg manager Thierry Laurey has revealed how he tried to bring Majeed Waris to the club on transfer Deadline day.

Majeed was eager to secure a move from Portuguese giants FC Porto after being demoted to the side’s second team.

The 27-year-old was heavily mooted with a switch to FC Nantes following his successful loan spell with the Canaries last term.

However, Nantes rejected FC Porto’s €6 million asking price which left the Ghanaian in limbo during the final embers of the summer transfer window.

Four days after the end of the transfer window, RC Strasbourg gaffer, Thierry Laurey has confirmed that his side pushed to acquire the services of the sharpshooter but the move did not materialized despite featuring in a friendly game for them.

“The Racing did not succeed his warp for Waris Majeed (FC Porto) in the last hours," says The Team in its edition of the day.

Waris’ future remain in doubt after he was declared surplus to requirements by Porto coach Sérgio Conceição.
