Reading FC manager Jose Gomes hails Andy Yiadom versatility after Stoke City draw

Reading FC boss Jose Gomes has praised the versatility of crocked Ghana defender Andy Yiadom after their 0-0 stalemate at Stoke City over the weekend.

Gomes deployed the right-back in midfield and excelled, showing his versatility as the relegation battlers picked a valuable point on the road.

And Royals manager was left impressed with the performance of the Ghana international.

“It’s an option - like we have other options. He is a very good defender - he’s fast and strong. During the first half we didn’t control some balls in that zone so there were a lot of aerial challenges and we lost the ball when we tried to recover it," he said

“With Yiadom in that position the team felt more protected in that zone, I think.

“We didn’t play a beautiful game but we played one which was possible under the conditions.”

Yiadom has been forced to pull out of Ghana's squad for the final 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Kenya on Saturday in Accra  through injury.
