Real Madrid coach confident ahead of Roma tie

Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane has insisted his squad are ready to fight ahead of their clash with Roma at the Stadio Olimpico in the Champions League on Wednesday evening.

The 43-year-old has fond memories of the competition after winning the tournament as a player with Los Blancos in 2002, although this will be his first fixture in the competition as a coach.

“There are so many memories that come to me when I think of the Champions League,” Zidane told Uefa’s official website.

“It’s a trophy I won as a player and an engineer. When you’re a soccer player, you dream of winning the World Cup every four years and every season to win the Champions League. We will fight for this goal.

“My team is physically well and is expressing itself convincingly recently, we feel ready for Wednesday’s challenge. Our goal is to make it to the next round and win the games.”
