Real Madrid eye AC Milan defender

Following his Euro 2016 performances, Real Madrid are considering making a move for AC Milan defender Mattia De Sciglio this summer.

The Italian international seemed likely to leave the club this summer following a number of disappointing seasons for the Rossoneri, however De Sciglio shone under Antonio Conte in France this summer and his employers have thus changed their minds and tightened their grip on him.

According to Spanish newspaper El Diario, Real Madrid are the latest side to have expressed interest in signing the Italian international as a possible back up for Marcelo.

Other members of the Los Blancos squad, such as Danilo, Arbeloa, and Nacho, have failed to convince coach Zinedine Zidane and the same can be said for Fabio Coentrao, who has returned to the club following his loan spell at AS Monaco, so the Spanish giants are looking for new reinforcements to strengthen their back line.

If Milan reject to do business, which is the most likely outcome, the La Liga side are looking at alternatives such as David Alaba of Bayern Munich, Ricardo Rodriguez of Wolfsburg and Jose Gaya of Valencia.

Other clubs such as Juventus, Napoli and Barcelona have also expressed a desire to sign De Sciglio this summer.
