Real Madrid survey results: Confident about Europe, calls for a No.9 in January...

Published on: 04 December 2020

Almost 48 hours have passed since Real Madrid lost away to Shakhtar Donetsk, and the inquest that has followed has led to some interesting responses from Los Blancos' supporters.

It is clear that their next three games will be vital, as Real Madrid travel to Sevilla before hosting Borussia Monchengladbach and Atletico Madrid. The defeat against Shakhtar has led some to question whether Los Blancos can reach the last 16 of the Champions League, but 57 percent of those who took part in our poll believe they will.

When asked about what happened in Kiev, a total of 29 percent believe that Real Madrid lacked intensity and desire, while 20 percent think that Zinedine Zidane's assertion is correct: that Los Blancos lack goals. However, 17 percent do not agree with Zidane's XI and changes, while 16 percent are critical of the team's play.

Should Real Madrid fail to reach the last 16, 65 percent of those who responded to the poll state that Zidane should be dismissed. When asked about what is wrong at Real Madrid, 38 percent believe it is the overall level of the squad. Then, 28 percent have pointed towards Zidane, while 26 percent think the absence of new additions in the summer is weighing the team down. Only six percent blame injuries and two percent blame the schedule.

Just 13 percent of those polled believe that Real Madrid can win all three games against Sevilla, Gladbach and Atletico, but there is confidence that they will advance in the Champions League, with 60 percent believing that they will make it to the knockout stages. Incredibly, though, 40 percent think Los Blancos will not win any of these three matches.

When asked if Real Madrid should go for the Europa League if they fail to qualify for the last 16, 54 percent said that they would rather finish third than fourth.

Finally, although they know that there will be no signings in January, 50 percent believe that it is essential to sign a striker in the next transfer window.
