Referee Sumaila Ibrahim wants goalkeeper Abdoulaye Soulama to be sanctioned heavily by the Ghana Football Association.

The Asante Kotoko shot-stopper is facing charges of indiscipline after he rushed on the referee for awarding a late penalty to Heart of Lions in their one-all draw at the Baba Yara stadium in a week-3 fixture.

The Burkinabe glovesman could be slapped with either a fine or a two-match ban but the centre man wants a stiffer punishment to serve as a deterrent.

“The fact that rushed on from me his post is an offence. Not to talk about the insults that they heaped on me,” Sumaila told Kumasi-based Fox FM

“Even though most of the players rushed on me, it was Soulama who engineered the act and rained massive abusive words on me.

“He (Soulama) didn’t want me to go. He was angry and used a number of foul words on me.

“He said so many things. He challenged my decision and questioned my professional competence.

"I believe is he punished well, it will serve as a deterrent to us. This is not the first time he's done that and I think such behaviours must stop."

Soumala appeared before the GFA’s discipline committee last season after a similar incident but just warned.
