Relief for Celta Vigo as Ghana defender Joseph Aidoo thigh injury not serious

Celta Vigo are expecting Joseph Aidoo to be fit for their next game after it was established that the defender did not suffer a serious injury in the 2-2 draw against Sevilla.

The Ghanaian asked to be substituted in the second half after sustaining the injury. He was replaced by former Barcelona centre-back Jeison Murillo as Celta earned a point away from home last Saturday.

After the match, the Celta reported through social networks that Aidoo had suffered " muscle discomfort at the root of his right thigh " that had prevented him from continuing.

Further checks revealed that Aiddo suffers a contusion on his right thigh, but not serious to keep out of action as initially feared.

Aidoo started his recovery on Monday as trained at the Cidade Deportiva Afouteza gym.

Celta are confident the 26-year-old will be available for the game against Rayo Vallecano on February 5 when La Liga returns from winter break.

Aidoo, one of the club’s trusted centre-backs, has been resolute at the back. He has been used 16 times and, in most games, played well.

However, he surprisingly did not make Ghana’s squad for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.
