The Italian national team manager Antonio Conte is now the red-hot favourite to take over as Chelsea manager, after his contract expires at the end of the 2016 European Championships.

Reports have emerged from Italy that the 46-year old has agreed in principle to take over the blues hot-seat later this summer. Sky Italia's Valentina Fass did however caution that nothing has been signed yet and speaking to Sky Sports News HQ commeted, 'We know that by March, Chelsea want to decide who their manager for next year will be - Conte seems to be ahead in the talks but nothing has been decided yet. There are still other contenders. Simeone, even though it looks like he wants to stay at Atletico Madrid, is one of the names on the list still, also Allegri, Juventus manager, is on the list.'

Antonio Conte has won five Serie A titles and a Champions League as a player, he also helped return Juventus to the top of Italian football between 2011-2014 and has managed the Italian national team since 2014. If he is to become Jose Mourinho's permanent replacment then he will be the 10th manager to work under Roman Abramovich since the Russian took over the club in 2004.
