Manchester City could've have snapped up Raheem Sterling for a bargain basement ã500,000 six years ago.
The Times says City were offered Sterling when he was a 14-year-old at QPR for half a million pounds.
But they opted against it, deciding the price was too high. He later moved to Liverpool for ã600,000, rising to ã5million.
City then had to pay almost 100 times that amount to push through a drawn-out deal with the Anfield club that could rise to ã49m.
