REVEALED: Why Belgium budding superstar Jeremy Doku rejected CK Akonnor's offer to play for Ghana

Belgium born Ghanaian teen sensation Jeremy Doku rejected an offer to play for the Black Stars because he fancies a chance of representing the Europeans at the Euro Championship which has been postponed to next year due to coronavirus, GHANASoccernet.com can reveal. 

The 17-year old has been enjoying a very good season in the Jupiler Pro League, where he has already made 30 appearances in all competitions for the senior side of Anderlecht. He has scored four goals in the campaign and has three assist to his name.

His performances forced Ghana national team coach C.K Akonnor to visit him in Belgium during his European tour in March, where he proposed to the youngster the idea of playing for the Black Stars.

However, Doku did not immediately confirm whether he will play for the Africans or not, but GHANASoccernet.com understands Belgium head coach Roberto Martinez is interested in sending the player to the Euros.

GHANASoccernet.com can also reveal the 17-year old, who turns 18 next month was in Roberto Martinez's pre-tournament practice in Qatar before it was decided that the competition will be postponed to 2021.

The postponement also gives Doku the chance to be ripe for the competition, when is turns 19 next year. He is among the few wingers Martinez is keeping an eye on.

Doku born in Antwerp to Ghanaian parents has already represented Belgium at the youth levels.

He has emerged on the radar of several top clubs including English giants Liverpool.
