Ghana forward Kevin-Prince Boateng says Franck Ribery would never have left FC Bayern Munich voluntarily.

The former France international spent 12 years with the Bavarian giants after joining from Marseille in 2007 and won nine Bundesliga titles, six German Cups and the Champions League in 2013.

Ribery joined Italian side Fiorentina on a free transfer, after leaving Bayern Munich at the end of last season.

According to Boateng, whom he shared a dressing room with at Fiorentina in the first half of the season, the 37-year-old would have stayed at Bayern if it was up to him.

"Franck Ribéry would never have changed voluntarily."

“He is in love with this club. Franck only said good things about Bavaria,"  Boateng told SPORT1.

In 11 games for the Violets this season, Ribery has 2 goals and 2 assists in 9 games.

Ribery, who amassed 81 France caps, is contractually bound to Fiorentina until 2021.
