Ghana's No. 1

Richard Arnold to be decisive in Cristiano Ronaldo's future

Published on: 08 January 2022

Having just rejoined Manchester United last summer, Cristiano Ronaldo could look to again walk away from Old Trafford as soon as next summer, with new CEO Richard Arnold to have a big impact on what the No.7 decides to do next.

Cristiano Ronaldo has had a mixed time since returning to the club over the summer, with United's on-field problems showing no signs of going away despite progressing in the Champions League.

Now, the Daily Star are piling pressure on Arnold, saying that the Portuguese's future rests on his decision. They are reporting that Cristiano will decide depending on who is appointed as the new coach at the club, following Ralf Rangnick's spell as interim boss at the end of the season.

There has been unrest around the club of late. Rangnick's methods have not been universally accepted by the dressing room. Rangnick could yet take the job on a permanent basis, as he will have a major say in who United's next coach is after his spell on the bench has ended, with him moving into an upstairs role.

On an individual level, Cristiano Ronaldo has done well since returning, scoring 14 times in 21 games for United this season. He also played once for Juventus this term before forcing his exit from Turin.

United's recent loss to Wolverhampton Wanderers is thought to have left Cristiano angry, with that just being the latest in a series of underwhelming results and performances.
