Richard Boadu reveals Libya’s attempt to convince him to switch nationality

Ghanaian midfielder Richard Boadu has disclosed that he declined an offer from the Libyan Football Association to change his nationality and represent Libya internationally.

Boadu, who currently plays for Al-Tahaddi Sports Club in Libya, emphasized his commitment to playing for his home country, Ghana.

In an interview with Fakye TV, Boadu explained, “When I came here, they tried to get me to naturalise for Libya but I declined. It’s not about the money; I am Ghanaian. I also want to represent my country and feel the pride.”

Boadu’s professional journey includes stints with Ghanaian clubs Medeama SC and Asante Kotoko.

Despite his notable performances, he has yet to receive a call-up to the Ghana national team, the Black Stars.

His move to Al-Tahaddi Sports Club aims to showcase his talent on an international stage, hoping to earn recognition from Ghana’s national selectors.

The midfielder’s aspiration to don the national colors remains strong. He expressed desire to experience the honor and joy associated with representing Ghana at the international level.
