Right to Dream Academy is offering financial and logistical support to four athletes in the Paralympic sports for the 2012 Olympic Games.

The move is in line with a broader vision to establish the Right to Dream Paralympic Academy programme which will recruit numerous disabled youth for grooming.

Most of Ghana's medals won at the just ended All Africa Games emanated from the disabled sport category and this Right to Dream hopes to improve whilst changing the negative stigmatisation associated disability in Ghana.

"Ghana has seen recent success in disabled sports and we hope to take this even further by eventually establishing a paralympic academy here," Head of Paralympic Programmes Suzy Daniels told GHANAsoccernet.com.

"We are starting off with four athletes; Raphael Botsyo Nkegbe, Charles Narh, Alern Mumuni and Anita Fordjor but our vision would be to eventually build a full academy for the sport to recruit young ones with various forms of disability.

"We have decided to provide fully for these four athletes and their families so they can be fully concentrated on training to maximize their performance."

The vision to build a full academy for the sport however comes with very huge financial demands and this Daniels say will need a lot of support from co-operative bodies, individuals and organizations.

"At the moment we are being supported by four companies but then to realize our huge ambition of establishing the academy we will need support from many more organizations so we can make it happen," she added.
