Riqui Puig missed Barcelona training on Friday due to an illness and will not travel with the squad to take on Valencia.
Following Quique Setien's arrival at Barcelona, Puig had been involved in the new coach's first two games against Granada in LaLiga Santander, and Ibiza in the Copa del Rey.
The return of Frenkie de Jong from suspension and Arthur Melo's recovery from injury meant another appearance for Puig already looked less likely against Valencia, despite the confidence placed in the youngster by Setien.
Barcelona B's Alex Collado took part in first team training in place of Puig, having bagged four goals and three assists so far this season for the Blaugrana subsidiary side.
