Roma captain hopes his goals can unite not divide

With his position in the team under heavy scrutiny, Roma captain Francesco Totti hopes his recent goals can unite the club.

The veteran forward scored twice off the bench in midweek to steer Roma to a famous comeback win over Torino and Totti could not hide his delight in winning the game for the Giallorossi.

“My goals against Torino helped the team and the club,” Totti explained on his offical website. “I’ve always loved to win a game.

“When I play well and score it should unite people, not divide.

“What happened on Wednesday was like a fairytale. It could only mean so much to those who are Romans, who know what this club means to the city.

“We have a big match coming up on Monday [against Napoli] and the only thing that matters to me, as always, is being able to celebrate a win with my team-mates, the coach, the club and our very special fans.”

Roma take on Napoli, five points behind their rivals in Serie A with the pair fighting over second place.
