AS Roma donates 55 internet-enabled tablet computers to some of the most disadvantaged children in the Italian capital.
The distinctive Roma Cares delivery trucks were on the move once again on Thursday – this time with club mascot Romolo in support – as they delivered tablets to families that had been selected by Forum del Terzo Settore, the nationwide children’s charity.
“Every child has the right to an education, but for so many families it is not always possible to either purchase a tablet computer or connect it to the internet,” said Francesca Danese, spokesperson for Forum del Terzo Settore for the Lazio area. “This donation will give some of our marginalised children the opportunity to still pursue their education and development. On behalf of everyone, we thank Roma Cares and Linkem for thinking about the children of Rome.”
Thanks to the delivery of the tablets to children and school students ensures they will be able to continue their education remotely and keep up with others in their class and age group.
The latest initiative forms part of the club’s ASSIEME (‘Together’) programme, which was launched in April in a bid to help those left most in need during the current worldwide Covid-19 pandemic.
Beyond supporting the hospitals and medical institutions in the front line of the current battle to control and contain the spread of the virus, during the last few months the club has also offered support to the elderly, the homeless, the imprisoned, the disabled and those on the margins of society – distributing masks, gloves, sanitising gel and other vital supplies to all those in need.
