Roma midfielder laments lack of home support

Ahead of Roma‘s crucial home game against Napoli, Miralem Pjanic has revealed his frustration over the lack of support for the team at the Stadio Olimpico.

Many Roma fans have stayed away from the Olimpico this season after the introduction of harsher security measures at the start of the campaign and the Bosnian midfielder believes it has had an impact on the side.

“We really miss our fans and the atmosphere they generate,” Pjanic said ahead of the Napoli game. “It’s difficult to explain but at certain moments hearing the supporters can draw an extra 10 percent out of us as a team.

“I’m a little disappointed by what’s happened this season and in my opinion there’s no reason for penalising our fans. I hope Italian football realise this and work towards a resolution, because Roma as a club deserve a full stadium.

“We still believe in getting second place and we want to beat Napoli. I expect it to be an open game and I’m certain [Maurizio] Sarri and his side won’t come to defend.”

Roma go into the game at the Olimpico five points behind Napoli who are in second place which is the final automatic Champions League spot.
