Former Catania defender Pablo Alvarez has recalled an anecdote involving Ronaldinho from the time they faced each other in Italy.

The Argentine full-back was assigned with the task of marking the Brazilian who begged his opponent to stop hitting him in the second half.

"When the first half of a Milan game against Catania at the [Stadio] San Siro ended, we were going to the dressing room and he approached me in the tunnel," Alvarez told Crack Deportivo.

"He takes off his shirt and says to me: 'Take it Alvarez. Please don't hit me anymore.'

"And he gave me the shirt.

"It was impossible to stop Ronaldinho, he was up in the air, he was impeccable.

"One of the best players in the football history."
