Rosenborg declare Annan will not be sold

Norwegian giants Rosenborg have declared that their Ghanaian midfielder Anthony Annan will not be sold despite interest from several English clubs.

Annan’s performances at the World Cup created quite a stir, with Manchester United and Arsenal all reported to be interested in him.

But club side Rosenborg have declared that the midfielder will not be sold despite offers from some clubs.

“Annan is a non-issue. He will not be sold and will be here,” coach Nils Arne Eggen said.

“We’re finished with the issue.”

The player, on the other hand, continues to harbour hopes of leaving the Tippeligaen outfit after being courted by several European giants over the course of the summer campaign.

“I find it strange that he says this, but I know that he wants to keep his best players,” Annan, 24, explained to Aftenposten.

“I want to play for a bigger club and am ready to go if there is an interesting offer from the club.”

Former Hearts of Oak player Annan excelled during his side’s comfortable progression past AIK in the Champions League, explaining he is happy on a personal level to be playing at a higher level.

“It is important for the club to participate in the Champions League, but also very important to me personally in order to show off for bigger clubs,” he stated.

“At the same time I feel that I have shown myself to be great enough in this summer's World Cup, which is certainly the best shop window for a player. Now I’m just waiting to see if any clubs show concrete interest.”

Annan has hinted he would like to play in England, though he has been linked with sides all over Europe.
