RTU captain Mohammed blasts referee after Hearts defeat

Real Tamale United captain Hassan Mohammed has criticised referee S.B Bortey blaming him for his team’s 3-2 defeat to Hearts on Sunday in the Ghana top-flight.

RTU were undone by two controversial penalties and a late winner from Edward Affum which raised eyebrows at the Accra sports stadium.

Coach Mohammed Gargo was shown the red card after he vehemently protested against the decisions of the match official.

Mohammed has put much of the blame for his side’s third loss of the season on the shoulders of Bortey, who he believes made many mistakes on incidents that were ‘really obvious’.

“I thought we had a lot of harsh decisions against us and that accounted for our defeat,” Mohammed told Kumasi-based Fox FM

“We played all the good football but once again the referee was against us. That has been our story this season.

“We had a good control of the game and got a good rhythm in the game, but the referee obviously came into the game with the scores in his pocket.

“Look at the two penalties and ask youself whether they were perfect penalties. It’s sad to say the least.”

“Unfortunately there is nothing we can do. We have to accept what has happened and move on.”

The Pride of the North have been hit with an indefinite home ban after their fans assaulted a referee during their Premier League clash against Medeama.
