Rudiger wants contract worth over 45 million pounds

Chelsea are continuing their efforts to try and persuade Antonio Rudiger to sign a contract extension at Stamford Bridge, however the German defender is understood to be demanding a financial package worth over 46 million pounds in total.

Having been a key component in Thomas Tuchel's Champions League-winning defence, the 28-year-old has seen his reputation enhanced fantastically and is now considered to be worth such a figure.

The Blues made an opening offer of around 135,000 pounds per week, which upset Rudiger as it would still have left him outside Chelsea's top 10 earners.

Competition for Rudiger

This anger has now thawed somewhat, with Chelsea back in the running to renew the German international, yet the competition is very tough, with Manchester United, Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich all interested in his signature.

Rudiger would like Real Madrid to be an option for him in June, although the Spanish club don't appear too interested at this juncture.

There were brief talks in December that were prompted by Rudiger's camp, but ultimately they came to nothing.
