Sammy Kuffour backs Gyan for Europe return

Ex-international Samuel Osei Kuffour is confident striker Asamoah Gyan will maintain his form and return to Europe despite making a shock loan move to UAE side Al Ain.

The 25-year-old switched from the high-profile English Premier League where he was in his second season with Sunderland.

Gyan has received a lot of backlash for his decision to move and accused of being lured by the 126,000 pounds a week wages.

But Kuffour, an ex-Bayern Munich centre-back, will not jeopardize his career by moving the Gulf.

"He is young, he has a great track record that includes two World Cups where he showed good quality. There are examples of players who have gone to the Arab world and headed back to Europe, and he has time," Kuffour told Oti Adjei Report TV show.

"He has had to make a very important decision and he says he made one after thinking it through with his family.

"These are very personal decisions and what the rest of us can hope for is that he has made the correct one."
