Sampdoria coach praises players for change of attitude in second half

Sampdoria coach Vincenzo Montella was content with the way his team played in the second half despite losing 3-2 to Bologna on Sunday.

The Blucerchiati trailed 2-0 at half-time but they came back thanks to goals from Luis Muriel and Joaquin Correa. A Ricky Alvarez handball resulted in a penalty which Mattia Destro converted to regain the Rossoblu’s lead but Montella didn’t want to speak on the refereeing decision and preferred to discuss the come back.

“I don’t want to speak about the penalty,” Montella told Sky Sport Italia.

“Certain attitudes and certain decisions can be bothering but I don’t want to dwell on this. It is a shame. We succeeded in coming back.

“The squad needs continuity. Something is always needed, like the two [early] goals that were conceded today, to wake the boys up. I want to start again with the attitude of the second half.”

Montella was then asked about the potential arrival of Torino striker Fabio Quagliarella, to which he replied, “Often I hear the voices of the[transfer] market directly from the press, give me some news.”
