Sampdoria defender arrives in Rome for medical

Sampdoria defender Ervin Zukanovic has arrived in Italian capital Rome ahead of a move to city club Roma.

The Giallorossi have apparently agreed a loan-to-buy deal with Sampdoria for the transfer of the Bosnia international, who had appeared to have been on the verge of a move to Stuttgart before Roma’s intervention earlier this week.

Zukanovic arrived in Rome on Thursday evening and will spend most of his Friday at Luciano Spalletti’s side’s training ground undergoing medical examinations.

Vincenzo Montella’s Sampdoria are hoping that letting Zukanovic depart for another Serie A side could help their cause to sign Roma’s Seydou Doumbia and Salih Ucan, with the transfer window fast approaching its wintry conclusion.

Roma are believed to be paying the Blucerchiati €1.5 million for the loan, whilst a mandatory payment of €2.5 million will be made in the summer in order to make the move permament.
