Ex Asante Kotoko star; Sarfo Gyamfi says the inconsistent form of the side is due to excessive player alcoholism.

The champions remain in the race to defend their Premier League crown but have been unable to get vital wins in recent games to power them to the top.

They are now second in the Ghanaian top flight – three points behind leaders Berekum Chelsea with five games left.

Former player of the side; Sarfo Gyamfi has now revealed the players are drunkards who usually share drinking tables with the supporters as the reason for their wobbly form.

“The Kotoko players need to be talked to and some of us will take it upon ourselves to advice the current crop,” he told Kumasi-based Fox FM.

“When you are a player of Asante Kotoko you have to abstain from certain things such as alcoholism.

“According to some supporters the players drink a lot. There was even one fan who pointed out a player and asked: ‘don’t I buy drink for you?’

“The players ought to stop these acts otherwise they will always be beaten by supporters when the team loses because the supporter is aware of all these things.”

The Porcupine Warriors are still in the hunt to finishing the season with a double as they remain in contention for the MTN FA Cup.
