Sarri suffers Hudson-Odoi blow

Published on: 23 April 2019

Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri will not be able to call upon Callum Hudson-Odoi for the remainder of the season after he suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon against Burnley on Monday.

The 18-year-old, who has burst on to the scene with the Blues this season, was forced off in the 41st minute as a 2-2 stalemate saw Chelsea edge into the top four places.

Hudson-Odoi confirmed the injury on social media and is hoping to make a swift return ahead of next season.

"Really gutted to end my season with a ruptured Achilles, gotta work hard and try and come back stronger for next season!" he tweeted.

The England international will now miss the final three Premier League games of the season, while he will also take no part in Chelsea's search for glory in the Europa League.

The Blues will face Frankfurt in the Europa League semi-finals, with the first leg taking place on 2nd May.

This injury will also put doubts on any transfer for Hudson-Odoi this summer, with Bayern Munich still thought to be interested in the player's services.

Chelsea are 11/8 to finish in the top four and 6/4 to win the Europa League this season.
