Sassuolo are resigned to losing Kevin-Prince Boateng to Barcelona this summer.
The Ghanaian left Emilia-Romagna for the Camp Nou in January after just half a season at the Mapei Stadium and while his move was an initial loan deal, the Neroverdi anticipate that Barcelona will trigger his eight million euros purchase option.
“I think it’ll be hard for him to return,” said sporting director Giovanni Carnevali to La Gazzetta della Sport.
“I think Barcelona will activate the purchase option and maybe resell him to another Spanish team.
“Boateng will probably continue in LaLiga [Santander].”
Prince played just four times at Barcelona, accumulating 303 minutes.
