Major League Soccer side Seattle Sounders have confirmed interest in Ghana international Prince Tagoe but say they cannot afford the US$ 200, 000 a week deal for the striker.

Tagoe, 25, admitted last month that the Seattle-based side have approached him with the jaw-dropping wages per week.

But the Americans insist they cannot pay US$ 10 million a year for any player.

"I can't comment on contract issues," Seattle Sounders General Manager Adrian Hanauer said.

"Prince is under contract with another club. Separately, we will not be paying anyone US$ 200,000 per week," he said.

David Beckham is MLS's highest paid player he gets about US$ 6.5 million a year, which translates to about $125,000 a week.

Former Barcelona and France striker Thierry Henry makes about US$ 5.6 million a year.

Tagoe, who spent last season on loan at Serbian giants Partizan Belgrade, has re-joined his German side TSG Hoffenheim where he is under contract till 2013.
