Second Ivory Coast coming of Man City star Toure on hold

Published on: 22 March 2016

Yaya Toure has had his international comeback with Ivory Coast delayed.

The Manchester City midfielder was set to play for his country this month for the first time since winning the African Cup of Nations with the Elephants back in February 2015.

The Ivorians meet Sudan in an AFCON 2017 qualifier double-header on Friday and Tuesday but Toure will be absent after aggravating an existing heel injury in the weekend's derby loss to Manchester United.

Ivorian Football Federation officials confirmed on Tuesday that the 32-year-old, one of five players to reach 100 caps for the Elephants, would be unavailable for Michel Dussuyer's squad for the matches in Abidjan and Khartoum.
