Ghana's No. 1

Sergej Milinkovic-Savic told he'd have Kevin De Bruyne effect for Man City and to snub Manchester United

Kevin De Bruyne was at his very best in Manchester City's stunning derby day win over bitter rivals Manchester United.

The Belgian laid on two assists as Pep Guardiola's side stormed to a scintillating 6-3 win over United. Erik ten Hag and the club's fans must have been quietly wishing they had their own version of De Bruyne to call upon.

One of the names continually linked with a move to Old Trafford over the last few years has been Sergej Milinkovic-Savic. The Lazio and Serbia midfielder is in his seventh season at the Italian club but speculation mounts each summer over a potential move away.

Despite the constant United links, a prominent commentator in Italian football actually thinks Milinkovic-Savic would fare better at City than he would United - and has even suggested he could have a similar impact on the Premier League as De Bruyne has.

Former Italy and Inter Milan defender-turned-pundit Giuseppe Bergomi told LazioNews24 he said: “But why don’t the top clubs come to take him (Milinkovic-Savic)? That’s what I’m wondering.

"He has to choose the right team for his qualities. If you send him to Manchester United it’s not good - if he goes to City he does like De Bruyne.”

Milinkovic-Savic, 27, is under contract at Lazio until 2024.
