Over the past few days there have been plenty of European ties to keep us entertained, and they will no doubt have an impact on this weekend’s Serie A action.
Sassuolo got their first ever European campaign off to the perfect start with a 3-0 victory over Athletic Bilbao, while Napoli also collected three points in their Champions League tie against Dynamo Kiev.
Round four of Serie A includes one of the biggest fixtures in Italian football, however the clubs involved had disappointing results in midweek and that may lead to an anti-climactic 90 minutes of football.
Here is what to look out for when watching Serie A this weekend.
1. The Derby d’Italia
Sunday evening sees the first huge tie of the 2016/17 season, with Inter hosting Juventus in the 230th Derby d’Italia.
Usually this fixture would catch the attention of every Calcio fan, whether they be a fan of the Nerazzurri, Bianconeri or neither.
However, Inter were disappointingly beaten at home 2-0 by Hapoel Be’er Sheva in the Europa League on Thursday night, while Juventus were limited to a 0-0 draw with Sevilla in the Champions League.
Despite new owners, new coaches and new players, Inter’s season looks to be continuing a similar trend of average results, so this weekend’s clash between potentially the two biggest Italian sides could be a weak spectacle.
Ignoring it would be a mistake, though, as Juventus will look to redeem themselves after their European endeavours and it is the first real domestic test for the Milanese side this term.
