Serie A 2016-17: Five Things To Look Out For In Round Three

Published on: 09 September 2016

Three weeks into the football season and already Serie A has brought us surprising results, unexpected transfers, and intriguing twists.

The summer transfer window closed last week, meaning each team will have to put up with what they have until the new calendar year, which will please some more than others.

Torino‘s surprise capture of Joe Hart and their deadline day exchanges with Napoli will make them a bit more positive about the months that lie ahead. While AC Milan could not bring in any new, notable players to get their season under new ownership off to a good start.

Here are the top five things to look out for when watching Serie A this weekend.

1. The new coach

Palermo are used to changes on the coaching bench, having made eight changes to the staff last season, but it will be an intriguing watch when they host Napoli on Saturday night nonetheless.

The Partenopei have a European clash in midweek when they travel to Dynamo Kiev, but this won’t stop their attempts at getting as many points as possible early on.

Juventus may be expected to wrap up their sixth-straight Scudetto this year, but Napoli are the most likely team to be able to challenge them, and they will need three points on Saturday to do that.

This determination will be a difficult starter for new Rosanero coach Roberto De Zerbi, who replaced Davide Ballardini earlier this week.

The former Foggia boss has no coaching experience in the Italian top-flight so must adapt extremely quickly when Napoli come to visit, otherwise, his squad may just crumble before their new adventure has even begun.
