Napoli's perfect start to the Serie A season came to an end on Sunday when they were held to a goalless draw by Roma, ending their eight-match winning streak.

With the draw, Roma maintains their record of 10 consecutive victories from the start of a Serie A season, which they set in 2013/14.

Both teams will be kicking themselves for wasted opportunities that could have determined a close, at times tense battle between two rivals that saw both coaches sent off.

With nine minutes left, Roma manager Jose Mourinho was sent to the seats for dissent, while Luciano Spalletti was issued a red card for what referee Davide Massa mistook for mocking applause.

It was a nice result for Roma, who were in desperate need of a win after a six-goal thrashing at the hands of Norwegian side Bodo/Glimt in midweek.
