Ghanaian forward Seth Paintsil played a major part in Admira Wacker 2-1 victory against Mattersburg in the Austrian Bundesliga on Saturday.
Admira are locked in a relegation fight with WSG Tirol with six games to end the campaign.
The Mödling-based outfit have not had a smooth ride since the resumption of the season, winning one, drawing two and losing three.
Coach Zvonimir Soldo’s side were silenced after Alejandro Velasco put Mattersburg ahead in the 25th minute.
But Admira fought back to draw level through Kolja Pusch’s 49th minute penalty strike.
As the game appears to be ending in a stalemate, Paintsil found Sinan Bakis on the edge of the area with a fine pass to slot home to hand Admira a crucial 2-1 win.
The victory takes Admira above Tirol in the relegation battle with 17 points from 30 games.
Paintsil was replaced with Pascal Petlach in the 83rd minute.
