Sevilla's gaze shifts straight to Copa del Rey semi final

Published on: 28 February 2021

Sevilla were back in training on Sunday as they tried to address what went wrong during their 2-0 defeat to Barcelona the day before.

Julen Lopetegui's squad reconvened at their training ground to try to maintain their focus ahead of their second meeting with Barcelona in five days.

Wednesday sees the Andalusians travel to the Camp Nou for the second leg of their Copa del Rey semi-final tie with the Blaugrana. The visitors already have a 2-0 lead on aggregate.

Saturday's loss put an end to a run of six straight wins in LaLiga Santander for Lopetegui's side, who didn't stick to their philosophy of intensity and solidity.

Lionel Messi scored his 38th goal against Los Rojiblancos in 42 games, while he also assisted Ousmane Dembele's opening goal in Nervion.

In an attempt to immediately shift their attention to Wednesday's Copa match, Sevilla returned back to work on Sunday.

Those that started Saturday;s game did some work in the gym before heading out on to the grass. The substitutes did more intense work on the Estadio Jesus Navas pitch.

Club president Jose Castro and sporting director Monchi also attended the session to try to lift spirits to see Sevilla through to a Copa del Rey final.

Neither Lucas Ocampos nor Marcos Acuna took part in training on Sunday because of their injuries.
