Shaikh Salman hails Korea Republic for successful hosting of FIFA U-20 World Cup

Manama: AFC President Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa has hailed Korea Republic's incredibly successful hosting of the FIFA U-20 World Cup which concluded on Sunday.

Shaikh Salman noted that the success truly reflects Korea Republic’s position in world football, as well as its ability and enhanced reputation for hosting major football events.

The AFC President also praised the efforts of the Local Organising Committee (LOC) and its role in producing such a noteworthy tournament, in addition to the excellent cooperation between the LOC and FIFA which further ensured the U-20 World Cup’s success.

He added: "Korea Republic’s success hosting of the FIFA U-20 World Cup is a success for all of Asia, and it proves that Asia deserves the football family’s trust when it comes to hosting major football events, something which reflects Asia true position on world football’s map.”

In addition, Shaikh Salman said that the U-20 World Cup had provided a true test for the Asian teams who had participated and done their utmost to once again enhance Asian football’s excellent reputation.

The AFC President also noted that the experience Asian teams gained through playing at the competition would have a positive impact on the players, and give them added confidence to represent their countries in the future.
