Ghana’s Black Queens midfielder, Sherifatu Sumaila has penned a one-year contract with Israeli women’s top-flight Championship side FC Kiryat Gat Women FC.

The 23-year-old joins her new club as a free agent after leaving USA United Women's Soccer side, LA Galaxy Orange County.

Speaking with Ayishatu Zakaria Ali on her transfer move, she said “I am proud to represent my family and country at FC Kiryat Gat Women in Israel. I am grateful I got this opportunity to do what I love and be able to provide for myself and my family.”

“I want to use this opportunity to work on myself and be on top of my game. And also work towards more opportunities”-she added.

Former Mallbackens IF and DjurgÃ¥rdens IF Damfotboll midfielder will continue her football career in Israel with the hope of helping them win the Israel Women’s premier league trophy.

FC Kiryat Gat Women was established in 2010, registered to Ligat Nashim second division, where it played for three seasons, before promoting at the end of the 2012–13 Season. The club also won the Second Division League Cup in the same season.

In 2014–15 the club was one of three in a three-way race to the championship, eventually finishing as runners-up to league champions ASA Tel Aviv University. They won the 2016–17 Israeli Premier League, Israeli 2nd Division in the 2012–13 season and Second Division League Cup in the 2012–13.
