Emmanuel Toku has been left out of the final squad for the 2019 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations under shocking and bizarre circumstances.

Toku, who is on the roaster of lower division side Cheetah FC, was part of the initial 21-man squad submitted to CAF.

But the former Ghana Under-20 star has conspicuously been left out of the squad ahead of the start of the tournament on Saturday.

The youngster has been the livewire of the team, scoring two goals for Black Satellites at the WAFU Zone B U20 tournament held in Togo last year.

The decision to omit the forward from the squad has sparked outrage in the West African nation as it threatens to overshadow the team's preparations for the tournament.

The two-time African champions are housed in group B alongside  Burkina Faso, Mali and Senegal.
