Sierra Leone coach John Keister disappointed by AFCON qualifiers removal

Sierra Leone coach John Keister says he is disappointed for the fans, the country and the current generation of players after they were disqualified from the AFCON 2019 qualifying campaign.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) disqualified the Leone Stars from the qualifying campaign because of government interference in the country's football association.

"Some of the players this would have been their last qualifiers and you know with all the hard work they have had in the last ten years, the effort they put in and this was probably the last goal because they felt they had an opportunity in this qualifiers but now it's come to an end like this," he told the BBC.

"It's very very sad but hopefully like I said we look forward to the future," he added.

The disqualification means Kenya and Ghana qualify for next year's Nations Cup finals from Group F.

Sierra Leone were suspended from all football by Fifa in October and an investigation was launched.

They have not played any qualifying matches since that ban.
