Silva seeks more new arrivals

Marco Silva has no intention of resting on his laurels despite adding Jonas Lossl, Andre Gomes and Fabian Delph to his Everton squad this summer.

Silva is keen to bring more players to Goodison Park and strengthen his squad still further before the transfer window closes on 8th August.

However, Ademola Lookman appears to be leaving the club as RB Leipzig have made an improved offer of £22.5million for the winger, who enjoyed a spell on loan with the Bundesliga outfit in 2017/18.

Former Hull City and Watford boss Silva said: "I would prefer that the players are here already but, in the market, it's not easy.

"The deals you want to do are difficult because we only want players who can strengthen our squad, to improve our squad. Let's see what we can do."

Meanwhile, Richarlison, Yerry Mina, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Yannick Bolasie are not currently involved in pre-season training as they were representing their national teams this summer in various tournaments. In addition, Idrissa Gana Gueye is set to represent Senegal in the Africa Cup of Nations final against Algeria later this week.

"Of course, as a manager, if I can have the full squad when I start pre-season, it would be perfect," Silva added.

"It's a different preparation for us because we have a lot of international players playing in important competitions with their national teams.

"Last Monday, six of our international players started pre-season in the second week. Next Monday we will have more, then after we will have Richarlison. We will have to wait for Gana also.

"Of course, the best solution would be if I have all of them, but it's a good sign because we have international players playing in important competitions."

Everton are 7/2 to finish in the top six of the Premier League in 2019/20 and 8/5 to beat Crystal Palace in their first match of the campaign on 10th August.
