Simeone: Win at the Camp Nou? There's a first time for everything

The destination of the LaLiga Santander title is as yet unknown, although Atletico Madrid are currently sat top of the table ahead of a huge test in an away match against Barcelona next.

Atletico Madrid don't have an encouraging record at the Camp Nou, despite their resurgence in recent years, although Diego Simeone doesn't believe the fact they've never won there under him will play a role on Saturday.

"There is always a first time in life for everything," Simeone declared in his pre-match press conference.

"We're facing a team that has cut a deficit of many points and a coach who has done a great job in turning things around from the first half of the season.

"We are going game by game and we will face everything with humility."

Atletico Madrid actually secured the domestic title by avoiding defeat against Barcelona in 2014, although Simeone refused to draw comparisons.

"There is no comparison," he added.

"No similarity. That time the championship was over [after that match].

"This time there will be plenty of points left."

Simeone faces a selection dilemma ahead of Saturday's clash, especially with Los Rojiblancos likely to need more defensive reinforcements against Barcelona.

Luis Suarez will start up front, but there is a question as to whether Atleti will utilise a five-man midfield with Suarez's attacking partner dropping into a deeper position when the Cules have possession.

"We have been playing with a fairly strong idea," he commented.

"Sometimes it has gone well and others, not so much.

"We'll try and get closer to everything we have been doing all throughout the season."
