Solomon Asante mourns TP Mazembe's ACL exit
Solomon Asante says he is disappointed with TP Mazembe's Champions League failure.

Ghana international Solomon Asante is lamenting TP Mazembe's exit from this year's CAF Champions League.

The diminutive winger is one of five Ghanaian players signed by Mazembe's wealthy owner Moise Katumbi to help the Lubumbashi side play in the competition this year.

TP Mazembe beat South African giants Orlando Pirates 1-0 at home on Sunday but fell short of qualification to the money zone with a 3-2 aggregate defeat.

Asante regrets the 2010 African champions were unable to achieve their set target for the season.

"We are not very happy because we wanted to get into the money zone but we are out and it is rather unfortunate," the former Berekum Chelsea player told Joy sports.

"Last year at Berekum Chelsea we managed to reach the money zone but this season at Mazembe we couldn’t and we are all very disappointed but we are encouraging ourselves because that’s the nature of the game."

TP Mazembe have dropped to play in the final round qualifiers of the CAF Confederation Cup where eight winners will progress to the Group stage.
