Dubai: Talismanic forward Son Heung-min touched down in Dubai on Monday to hand Korea Republic’s ongoing AFC Asian Cup UAE 2019 campaign a major boost.

The 26-year-old, who has missed his country’s opening two matches at the Continental extravaganza, arrived in the Emirates after playing for club side Tottenham Hotspur in their English Premier League encounter with Manchester United a day earlier.

Son, the AFC International Player of the Year in both 2015 and 2017, is now expected to feature for Korea Republic in their final Group C crucial fixture against China PR at Abu Dhabi’s Al Nahyan Stadium on Wednesday – a game which will decide which of the East Asian powerhouses finishes top of the group.

Without Son, the Taeguk Warriors – seeking to claim their first AFC Asian Cup title since 1960 – have recorded successive victories, beating the Philippines 1-0 and Kyrgyz Republic by a similar scoreline.
