SOTTIL: "KEEN FOR A BIG PERFORMANCE IN MONZA"

Published on: 25 August 2022

As is always the case the day before a match Udinese coach Andrea Sottil spoke to the club’s TV channel and shared his thoughts on Friday evening’s fixture against Monza:

“We’ve put in some good work this week, despite having less preparation time than usual. The lads really got stuck into every training session and are eager to put in a big performance and get a good result. It’s been very much apparent that they’re chomping at the bit and focused on getting some points tomorrow.

“As for tomorrow’s opponents, there are no easy games in Serie A, even if you’re playing a newly promoted team or a side in dire straits. They’ll be really focused and determined, that’s for sure. We need to be humble but also never let up in our intensity, trying to win every 50/50 and making the most of our qualities. We’ve got a great deal of respect for Monza.

“As for our potential team selection, I’ve got a clear idea of how we’ll set ourselves out but I’ll decide the exact line-up at a later point. The same goes for the tactics. In terms of individuals, Festy Ebosele could feature on the right flank, Beto is doing well and could be in contention, Sandi Lovric has shown he’s capable of coming on and scoring, and Tolgay Arslan did great last Saturday when he entered the fray and his experience is vital to us. Jaka Bijol followed a custom training programme this week following the blow to the head he suffered againt Salernitana.

“I’m aware of how passionate our fans are and that they’ll make themselves heard tomorrow in Monza. I hope we’ll have a large travelling contingent there and I’m sure they’ll play the role of the 12th man very well for us.”
