South Africa head coach Molefi Ntseki applauds CAF for football resumption

Bafana Bafana head coach Molefi Ntseki has commended the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for their efforts to resume football matches on the continent.

The CAF Executive Committee reached a decision last Tuesday to move the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations from January 2021 to January 2022 due to the disruptions caused by the global pandemic coronavirus.

Most leagues and football competitions have been cancelled with others suspended in wake of the widespread of the coronavirus since mid-March.

CAF is yet to announce the dates for the remaining matches of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifications and the other competitions but it's clear that the South Africa national team will be starting training soon.

"Remember for international football to be played, professional leagues have to be active, you can’t have it the other way round. National teams’ activities are guided by clubs – in short, no club football no international competition, it is that simple," he told SAFA Media.

"On the continent, there are a few leagues that are in action – and that tells you that international football is still far off. So we should applaud the CAF Executive for the efforts they are making for the resumption of the game – and all what they are doing is giving positive vibes that there will be football soon, and in this case soon is relative," the coach added.
