Bidvest Wits CEO Jose Ferreira has rubbished reports suggesting the club have signed Ghanaian midfielder Theophilus Nyame from local side Medeama.

Recent reports claim the 23-year-old, who was previously at Asante Kotoko before joining Medeama in January, left his previous club due to a “mouthwatering offer” from the Clever Boys.

Ferreira, though admitting the player had recently been on trial at the Milpark-based club, denied having done any business with Nyame and has reason to believe he has gone on trial at a different PSL club.

“The player trained with us for a few days and we let him go last week,” Ferreira tells KickOff.com.

“He has signed no contract with us nor do we intend signing him.

“I have no idea where the story that we have signed him comes from. In fact, it is our understanding that he is currently on trial at another PSL club.”

Furthermore, Wits are unable to add another foreigner to their ranks at this point as they have already depleted their foreign quota in accordance with the new PSL rules, which states that 'A member club may not have more than five (5) foreign players contracted with it at any point in time'.
