Spalletti disappointed with Roma draw against Hellas Verona

Roma coach Luciano Spalletti was disappointed to see his team draw 1-1 with Hellas Verona as he returned to the bench for the Giallorossi.

The 56-year-old was content with the effort shown by his players but he could also tell they were dismayed by their inability to beat Serie A’s only winless side.

“We did not ply a great game. The squad tried but there were a few chances that weren’t taken,” Spalletti told Mediaset Premium after the game.

“The result is difficult to accept but there are positives that we can take for ourselves.

“For example, I saw commitment and a disappointed squad at the 90th minute. There is still work to do.”

Spalletti was asked about the fitness of his squad but he believes that Roma must be better technically to avoid being questioned about their physical strength in the future.

“If we can rely on our technical abilities, then the fitness levels will be highlighted less,” Spalletti added.

“Of course, if we make too many mistakes then this problem is accentuated.”

The results leaves Roma in 5th place with 35 points from 20 games, five points of a Champions League spot.
