SPORTING LISBON - Jorge Jesus: \"We\'d never be able to afford VAN PERSIE\"
Interviewed by A Bola and asked about the chance for Sporting Lisbon to sign almost 33 years old Dutch international striker Robin Van Persie, Leões manager, Jorge Jesus, stated:
"Van Persie is a great player, and many clubs are interested in him. Sporting signing him? Do you know how much Robin Van Persie earned per season? That would be madnessfor us. Of course I'd like to sign someone like him for the team, but our priority is owning a stadium on our own. We'd have to sell almost everything else in order to afford such a player".
Possibly leaving Fenerbahçe after just one season, former Arsenal and Manchester United star has been recently lined to Barcelona FC, PSG and West Ham too.
